Star shines with experience
The Star A had too much experience for Eddies C in the DT Pearce cup final held at the Balfour Club recently.
The format of the competition was two single frames and two double frames with aggregate scores.
In the first singles frame, the experienced Terry Loxton (Star) potted well to beat Matthew Ellis (Eddies) by 40 points.
In the first doubles frame, Lee Goldsmith and Mike John (Star) overcame Paul Mansbridge and Richard Thomas. Mike and Richard both had breaks of 20. In the second singles frame, Dean Lowe (Star) potted well to beat Shaun Crawford and ran out an easy winner.
Going into the last frame, the Star had a lead of more than 100 points. However, with prolific potter Eddie Collins and Mervyn Harries, Eddies thought they were still in with a chance.
But Mike Rees and Brian Probert (Star) kept things tight, and the Star ran out winners.
